Former CSKA footballer Yevgeny Aldonin commented on the death of the three-time world champion Pele noting that the world football family has lost the king of football.
Pelé died Thursday at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer.
– A whole era of football is associated with Pelé. He was not only an example for many, but he also made people fall in love with football. The greatest footballer of the 20th century! The fact that he won three world championships is a testament to his greatness. How he played… Awesome! He had no weakness in attack. Pele was athletic, very coordinated, plastic: he played both low and high – he scored a huge number of goals with his head. The world football community and the world football family have lost the king of football, – quotes the words of Aldonin “Championship”.
Pelé is the only three-time football world champion (1958, 1962, 1970). He played 92 games for Brazil and scored 77 goals. At club level, the striker played for Brazilian Santos and New York Cosmos.
