Ivan defends Lomachenko and urges not to forget what the boxer did for Ukraine
Ukrainian welterweight boxer Ivan Redkach commented on the scandal surrounding the posts in the social networks of the ex-champion in three divisions Vasily Lomachenkoin which he published an interview with Longin, Metropolitan of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
“Where did you hear that he was for the Moscow Patriarch? Where did you hear that he does not love his homeland? He is for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Why is there no freedom of speech? They forgot that Vasily is the two-time Olympic champion of Ukraine, and not Russia. And the anthem of Ukraine has always sounded on the international arena, the Ukrainian flag has been hoisted. The Komsomol is no more, but the churches remain.”
The chief of staff of the Azov regiment, Bogdan Krotevich, called Lomachenko “the future Medvedchuk, for whom many of our guys can be released from captivity.”
Recall that during the sermon Longin said that “Ukraine started a war against God, the Church of the Lord and the Ukrainian people.”
Lomachenko has previously refused to call Russia an aggressor. The boxer also published a video interview with Metropolitan Luka of Zaporozhye and Melitopol in the summer, in which he stated that the Ukrainians deserved the bombing by the Russian army and contributed to the deportation of Ukrainians from Mariupol, taking civilians to Russia.
Recall, Redkach will fight American Adrien Broner on February 25.
The full-scale war between Ukraine and Russia continues for the 313th day.
