The analyst considers the Ukrainian an outstanding fighter, but prefers the larger Briton
Former world champion, and now a sports analyst, Johnny Nelson believes WBC champion Tyson Fury can beat the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk and become the undisputed world heavyweight champion.
“Usyk has an amazing reputation. Tyson Fury has challenged everything and continues to do so. I think this is the perfect fight for two unorthodox fighters. I think Fury will win. He’s too big, too smart, too strong in and out of the ring.”
“But I don’t think he should try the old mind games. The fight doesn’t just start in the ring. It’s the psychological aspect, it’s the preparation for it, it’s how you approach the fight. Tyson Fury has established himself as a full-fledged fighter, and a big one at that. Mustache will have to prove: “no matter how great you are, I will make you fall.” I prefer Fury here.”
“I think he will prove his reign as the king of the world heavyweight division by defeating Usyk. I really think he will. Usyk is an outstanding fighter, and Tyson Fury has answered all questions and proved everything he is capable of in boxing, in many ways, against all shapes and sizes.”
A unification fight between Usyk and Fury could take place in February or March next year. Promoter Alexander Krasyuk said that the most effective working date for the fight with Fury is March 4th.
Promoter Frank Warren said Usyk-Fury could have a rematch clause. The date of the fight may be affected by the injury of the Briton, received in a duel with Derek Chisora.
