Real Madrid has an uninspired day and some players are spared, but the penalty at the end decides and Benzema guarantees the victory to continue in the fight for the lead
O Real Madrid won the Real Valladolid in the first round of the Spanish Championship after the break for the World Cup. Despite the 2-0 score, in goals scored by Benzema nearing the end, the game did not have much emotion and few chances for both sides, especially in the second stage.
The first half of the game had a more rhythmic pace, largely because of Madrid’s modified midfield, which had Modric and Bye-bye in the reserve bank. Even so, Benzema had the clearest chance to open the scoring and wasted it after a rebound from Masipkicking over the goal.

Despite this, from the 30’s onwards, the home team began to be in danger and required good defenses from Courtois, who held the score in at least two opportunities. With that, the 0-0 remained until the end of the first 45 minutes and left the expectation of more emotion in the final stage of the match.
Even so, chances were scarce after the break and the coaches were forced to use their substitutions to try to change the game’s panorama. The alternative found by Valladolid was in corner kicks, as there were two in a row endangering the opposing archer, one of them in an attempt to score an Olympic goal.
Opportunities had been happening a lot due to the individual quality of the players, and without the pressure that could be expected from many of the fans, the Merengues managed to get a penalty for touching the opponent’s hand. Benzema hit the first, who even made one more on the counterattack to kill the confrontation.
