Espanyol sent a complaint to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) regarding the match of the 15th day of the Spanish championship against “Barcelona” .
As stated in a post on site Espanyol, the club intends to challenge the legality of the participation in the match of the garnet blue striker Robert Lewandowski .
The meeting took place on December 31 at the Camp Nou and ended with the score 1:1, the Pole spent 90 minutes on the pitch. Lewandowski was initially suspended for three matches in La Liga after the game against Osasuna (2-1) and was expected to miss the meeting with Espanyol, but the central court in Madrid temporarily suspended the player’s suspension.
– Before the start of the match, the club in good faith informed both the match referee, Mateu Laos, and the RFEF of the presence of an opponent in the team, Robert Lewandowski, who was to serve a suspension after having been kicked off in the previous game. Espanyol, as announced on the eve of the match, will use every opportunity at their disposal to protect their interests and the interests of our fans, knowing that this gross injustice jeopardizes the essence of our competition and that this injustice is based on a hasty decision taken with obvious legal shortcomings,” the club said in a statement.
Barcelona top the Spanish La Liga table with 38 points, while Espanyol are 16th with 13 points.
