Infantino: We ask that at least one stadium in all countries of the world bear the name of Pele

The FIFA President also called for a moment of silence for the legendary Brazilian

FIFA President Gianni Infantino called to perpetuate the memory of the legendary Brazilian footballer Pele in all countries of the world.

“With a lot of emotions, sadness, but also with a smile, because he gave us a lot of smiles. Like the rest of FIFA, we will honor the “King” and ask the whole world to observe a moment of silence. We are going to ask that in all countries of the world there should be at least one Pelé stadium so that children know about its importance,” said the FIFA President.

The funeral of the “King of Football” took place in Sao Paulo. Earlier in Brazil, a three-day mourning was declared after the death of Pele.

Many world football stars, as well as Andriy Shevchenko, Ukrainian clubs Dynamo and Shakhtar expressed their condolences to the Pele family. Before the Premier League matches in the 18th round, there was a minute standing ovation in honor of the player.

Recall that the legendary Brazilian footballer Pele died at the age of 83. Since the end of November, he has been in one of the hospitals in Sao Paulo. The reason for the arrival of the Brazilian in the hospital was swelling and heart problems.

Pele won the World Cup three times with Brazil (1958, 1962, 1970). He played for such clubs as Santos and New York Cosmos. The Brazilian club have made changes to the club emblem, adding a crown to it as a tribute to Pele. The legendary player’s family has asked Santos to withdraw the number 10 from circulation.
