Lesya called Russia a “terrorist country”
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko spoke about the military invasion of the Russian Federation. The athlete regularly follows the news and events in her native country.
“I will say that already, probably, an infinite number of times the thought arose in my head to go to Kyiv. But every time I stop myself, because I love both Kyiv and Ukraine very much and, probably, too much that if I go there, I won’t be able to leave. Or it will be very emotional for me. So for the time being I decide not to go there. Emotionally very hard. I live by the news from Ukraine, I constantly follow every smallest detail, I watch a lot of different videos, analytics, in fact, I live by this in between workouts.”
“If we talk about me, then I perceive all events very painfully. Especially when it’s news of the dead. It’s just plain awful. All these ruined arenas… Recently, the news came that touched the ninth court at Antey… It’s all very painful. My sister watched a movie on New Year’s Eve, not suspecting anything, and then such an explosion, either air defense or something, but she was sure that the windows would fly out now. It’s me, I complained a little, but it’s clear that all Ukrainians have such a problem now.”
“In general, I think that last year we gave all interviews very carefully. Now we are sure that no one will be banned anywhere. Therefore, I believe that it is possible to give much more frank interviews, to lay out everything according to the facts. There are people who stood up for Gazprom’s money, who went to play in a country that everyone is already talking about as terrorists. Therefore, I believe that we, too, should not be shy in expressions.
Recall that Tsurenko, together with Alexander Dolgopolov and Marta Kostyuk, purchased and handed over the SUV Jeep Grand Cherokee to the 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mikhail Ostrogradsky.
Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, and then launched a large-scale invasion. The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues for the 315th day.
