The queue at the stadium, where they say goodbye to Pelé, stretches for a kilometer

A line of people who came to say goodbye to the three-time football world champion Pele has reached a kilometer, reports Folha de S. Paulo .

The publication’s reporter spoke with the father and son, who decided to pay tribute to the memory of the king of football. They lined up at 11:00 a.m. local time (5:00 p.m. Moscow time) one kilometer from the entrance to the stadium, they didn’t get halfway there in an hour. Another fan, who came to say goodbye to two teenagers, said they had to spend two hours in the sun in a temperature of 29 degrees.

The farewell ceremony began at the Santos Vila Belmiro stadium at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time. Access to the arena will be open to everyone until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Then, Pelé’s body will be transported through several streets of the city and delivered to the memorial of the Ecumenical Necropolis.
