Benfica manager Schmidt: Chelsea are disrespectful, we don’t want to sell Enzo Fernandez

The blues were at first willing to pay the clause, but then they began to conduct normal negotiations

Main coach Benfica Roger Schmidt said that Chelsea acts disrespectfully towards a Portuguese club during midfielder transfer negotiations Enzo Fernandez.

“We don’t want to sell Enzo. There is a club that wants him, seduced him, but they know the only way is to pay the 120 million euro clause.”

“They behave disrespectfully, turning the head of a football player. At first they acted as if they wanted to pay a clausula. But then they want to negotiate.”

Earlier it was reported that Chelsea are going to pay 127 million euros in three installments (about 40 million euros each) to buy the Argentina international as soon as possible. Negotiations between the clubs were considered to be at an advanced stage.

There was also information that Chelsea had agreed a personal contract with Fernandez. The agreement with the Argentine midfielder will be calculated until 2028. Enzo’s salary will be 10 million euros per year.

Hernandez has three goals and five assists in 24 games for Benfica in all competitions. Enzo also became the 2022 world champion as part of the Argentina national team.

Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League table. Benfica in the championship of Portugal is on the first position.
