Russian coach Alexander Grigorian on the air of the program “Tous pour le match!” on the channel compared the deceased Italian footballer and coach Gianluca Vialli with one of the most famous composers in the history of music, Ludwig van Beethoven.
Vialli died on Friday at the age of 58. In 2018, it became known that Vialli had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In April 2020, he announced that he was cured of cancer after a course of chemotherapy. However, in December 2021, Vialli announced the continuation of the fight against cancer.
Vialli in football is like Beethoven in music. The highest skill, combined with incredible energy. For him, football is life, and life is a game. Therefore, he handled the game brilliantly. Behind me is a painting that represents a bridge to paradise. Believe me, they have already met Pelé in heaven,” Grigoryan said.
Vialli won the Champions League and UEFA Cup with Juventus and became the 1990 World Cup bronze medalist with the Italian national team. He also won the European Cup Winners’ Cup with Sampdoria (1989/90) and Chelsea (1997/98). Vialli was Chelsea’s player-manager from 1998 to 2000.
