Blancos’ unique achievement against Villarreal
Real set a unique achievement in club history. Blancos for the first time XXI century went to the La Liga match without Spaniards in the starting lineup.
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti put up for the match of the 16th round of La Liga against Villarreal 11 Legionnaires: Thibault Courtois (Belgium), Antonio Rüdiger (Germany), Eder Militao (Brazil), David Alaba (Austria), Ferland Mendy (France), Aurelien Tchuameni (France), Luka Modric (Croatia), Toni Kroos (Germany) , Federico Valverde (Uruguay), Vinicius Junior (Brazil), Karim Benzema (France).
Spaniards Luis Lopez, Jesús Vallejo, Nacho Fernandez, Lucas Vazquez, Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio remained in reserve for the Blancos. Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola missed the bout due to injury.
The match between Villarreal and Real Madrid is in the second half. Blancos lose 1:2.
Real Madrid will play in the Spanish Super Cup next week. In the 1/2 final match, Ancelotti’s team will play with Valencia on January 11.
