Former Brazilian international Roberto Dynamite, top scorer in Brazilian Serie A history, has died at the age of 68 from colon cancer.
The veteran’s death has been confirmed by his former club Vasco da Gama.
“It is with deep regret that Vasco da Gama has learned that Carlos Roberto de Oliveira, alias Dynamite, has left us. He has dedicated 29 of his 68 years to the club, the club said in a statement.
Dynamite scored 708 goals in 1,110 games for Vasco da Gama between 1971 and 1979. He still holds the record for goals scored in the Brazilian Serie A league with 190 goals.
As a member of the national team, Dynamite scored 20 goals in 38 games, playing in the 1978 and 1982 World Cups.
