Former Moscow coach “Spartacus” Raul Riancho believes that Massimo Carrera capable of “stopping the hegemony” of St. Petersburg “Zenith” if he manages the best club in the Russian Premier League (RPL).
On Saturday, Carrera said he was ready to return to the RPL in the summer of 2023.
– I think that if Carrera returns to Russia this summer, he can stop Zenit’s hegemony. Carrera is capable of succeeding with any team. If it is the best RPL club, then Massimo can become the champion of Russia again.
Carrera has long proven that he knows Russian football well and is an excellent coach, Riancho said as quoted by RB Sport.
The Italian specialist coached Spartak from 2016 to 2018, led the team to victory in the league and the Russian Super Cup. After leaving Russia, Carrera managed Greek AEK and Italian Bari, leaving in 2021.
