Lloris announced his retirement from the French national team

The goalkeeper previously set a new record for the number of games played among goalkeepers at the world championships

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris announced his retirement from national France national team.

As part of the national team, the goalkeeper became the world champion in 2018 and won the 2020/21 Nations League. The goalkeeper also won silver medals at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2016.

Lloris set a new record for the number of matches played among goalkeepers at the world championships. The 2022 World Cup final in Qatar was the 20th for the player in tournaments. Hugo beat the German Manuel Neuer.

Lloris also holds two records for the French national team: in the number of career matches played (145) and in the number of fights at the World Championships.

France lost to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final on penalties. Le Bleu failed to defend the title they won four years ago against Croatia.
