The next court session is January 19

Honorary President of Vorskla Konstantin Zhevago released from custody bail of one million euros

Zhevago is not allowed to leave mainland France, where he was arrested. Three times a week, a Ukrainian businessman must come to the police station and live at the specified address in Courchevel. The next court session was scheduled for January 19.

Recall that the hearing on the extradition of Zhevago was postponed for two weeks. The honorary president of Vorskla informed the court in Chambert that the case against him was political persecution. The ex-people’s deputy’s lawyers asked for more time to prepare for the hearing.

In December, Zhevago was detained in the ski resort of Courchevel in the French Alps. He is suspected of embezzling the property of the Finance and Credit Bank, in which Zhevago was listed as a beneficiary, in the amount of 2.5 billion hryvnias. In December 2015, a decision was made to revoke the banking license and liquidate Finance and Credit.

The former People’s Deputy of Ukraine was sent under extradition arrest. Recently, Zhevago left the post of director and left the board of directors of Ferrexpo, which is a sponsor of the Vorskla football club.

Also, the Deposit Guarantee Fund filed a lawsuit with the Economic Court of Kyiv against the former people’s deputy. He is required to compensate for the losses of the Finance and Credit Bank and its creditors in the amount of almost 46 billion hryvnias.

Since July last year, Zhevago has been on the international wanted list. The businessman also actively spoke out against the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. In the updated ranking of the richest people in Ukraine from Forbes, the president of Vorskla took fifth place.

The Poltava club is in the 9th place in the UPL standings. The head coach of Vorskla this season is Viktor Skripnik.
