The Football Association of England (FA) is investigating fan behavior “Manchester United” in the match of the third round of the Cup with Everton according to Reuters.
The match took place on January 6 and ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of Manchester United. According to the source, during the game some Manchester United fans chanted homophobic chants against the Everton head coach. Frank Lampard who previously played and worked as a coach at Chelsea.
“We strongly oppose all forms of discrimination and strive to ensure that our game is a safe environment for all who truly support diversity and challenge hateful behavior on and off the pitch,” said the FA spokesperson.
– Homophobia, like all forms of discrimination, has no place in football. Manchester United are proud of their diverse fanbase and the work we have done to reduce the number of cases we have unfortunately been forced to hear about, Manchester United said in a statement.
