FIFA President Gianni Infantino was questioned by Swiss prosecutors for the second time in a criminal case in which he is accused of “incitement to abuse of power, violation of official secrets”.
The investigation was launched in July 2020 and Infantino was initially interviewed in April last year.
One of the prosecutors in the case confirmed to French newspaper Le Monde that he had met with Infantino, but declined to comment further.
Prosecutors are investigating three alleged secret meetings that took place in 2016 and 2017 between Infantino and former Swiss attorney general Michael Lauber. During these meetings, it was alleged that Infantino had sought information about investigations into FIFA and its former executives, possibly with the aim of influencing the course of those investigations.
