All decisions remain in effect
Court of Arbitration for Sport of Lausanne (CAS) rejected Russia’s appeals for disqualifications from European competitions.
Four clubs filed a lawsuit with UEFA – Dynamo Moscow, CSKA, Zenit and Sochi. However, CAS found no reason to change the disqualifications for Russian football.
“The Commission considers that the decision violated neither the principle of political neutrality nor the mandatory provisions of Swiss law, was not disproportionate or discriminatory and falls within UEFA’s discretionary power to make decisions that further its statutory goals.”
Recall that in Russia it was decided to create a single football championship for clubs from Abkhazia, South Ossetia, as well as the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Also in the Russian Federation they plan to attract clubs from the LPR and DPR.
UEFA, in turn, reminded Russia that the Crimean clubs do not have the right to play in tournaments under the auspices of the RFU. The aggressor state has repeatedly made statements about the accession of teams from the occupied territories to the football structure of Russia.
Earlier, FIFA and UEFA did not allow all Russian teams and clubs to participate in competitions under the auspices of organizations. The reason is the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine.
Russia played its last match on November 14, 2021, losing to Croatia (0:1) in the 2022 World Cup qualifying group round match.
The full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues for the 321st day.
