The Ukrainian passed the German Maria in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina made its way into quarterfinal at the tournament WTA 250 in Hobart (Australia).
It took the Ukrainian more than two and a half hours to win in the second round over Tetyana Maria from Germany. In the first set, Kalinina was leading 3:1, but then she managed to win only one game and lost 4:6. In the second installment, the Ukrainian played three break points with the score 1:2 and from that moment on she did not allow her opponent to lead in the course of the meeting. She won the second and third sets 6-3.
For the entire match, Kalinina filed through three times, made seven double faults, lost five games on her serve and made seven breaks.
In the quarterfinals, Kalinina will play against former world No. 4 Sophia Kenin from the United States, who currently occupies 280th place in the world rankings. The first racket of Ukraine will hold its seventh quarter-final at the WTA level and try to break a series of five defeats in a row at this stage.
Recall that in the first round in Hobart, Kalinina passed Rebecca Marino from Canada without any problems.
