Igor Kamenskoy, vice-president, member of the executive committee and adviser to the president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), told that the federation has successfully overcome two years of crisis since the start of the pandemic, but the mood can hardly be called rosy.

On Friday, an RFU conference was held in Moscow.

– The mood at the RFU works, because if you succumb to panic and despair, then it would be very difficult to withstand the many difficulties the RFU has faced in the past two years since the pandemic began. The mood can hardly be called rosy, but at least the reporting conference showed that in terms of financial stability, the work of all verticals, the quality of interaction with regional federations, work has been put in place at a very high level. And if we ignore the international aspect and put aside the financial difficulties that clubs have been facing since the covid restrictions, then in general the RFU has managed these two eventful years.

I am convinced that the RFU will find a worthy replacement in place of all the retired partners. There will be no restrictions on the markets, the only criterion is value for money, Kamensky told .

In May, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in tournaments under its auspices for the 2022/23 season due to the situation in Ukraine.
