Messi, Hakimi, Haaland and Mbappe named to IFFHS Team of the Year 2022

Without Ronaldo, Lewandowski and Neymar

International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFS) announced a symbolic team of 2022.

It included the captain of the Argentina national team Lionel Messi and three representatives of Real Madrid – Thibaut Courtois, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema. Outside the national team are the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the Pole Robert Lewandowski and the Brazilian Neymar.

  • Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City; Belgium),
  • Lionel Messi (PSG; Argentina),
  • Erling Holland (Manchester City; Norway),
  • Karim Benzema (Real; France),
  • Kylian Mbappe (PSG; France).

IFFHS continues to sum up the results of the last year. Thus, Pole Szymon Marciniak was recognized as the best referee, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was recognized as the best club coach, and Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni became the best national team coach.

Lionel Messi was named the best playmaker of 2022, Jude Bellingham was named the best young player, and Belgian Thibaut Courtois was named the best goalkeeper.
