The Dutchman is interested in a move to Madrid
Atlético moved forward in negotiations for the transfer of Barcelona striker Memphis Depay.
The Dutchman’s contract expires in the summer. Until now, Depay did not want to leave Barcelona ahead of schedule, but the interest of Atlético changed the situation. The striker is not against the transfer, while the Madrid hope to make a deal at a cost that is favorable to them.
Earlier there was information that Depay is not included in the plans of Barcelona head coach Xavi. Galatasaray and Newcastle were interested in the services of Memphis, but the striker was determined to finish playing in Barcelona to the end.
Recall that in the past few years, several Barcelona players have moved to Atlético Madrid. First, Madrid signed Luis Suarez, and then bought the contract of Antoine Griezmann.
Barcelona scored 41 points and single-handedly topped La Liga. Wards Xavi will play with Betis in the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday, the beginning of the meeting – at 21:00 Kyiv time.
Atlético are fifth in the Liga with 27 points. Diego Simeone’s team will face Almeria on 15 January.
