Under his leadership, the blue-and-yellows played 15 matches and did not qualify for the 2022 World Cup
Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) announced the termination of cooperation with the head coach of the national team of the country Alexander Petrakov.
The UAF thanked Petrakov for his cooperation and wished him success in his future career. The coach spent 15 games at the head of the blue-yellows, six of which ended in victories and two in defeats. Ukraine finished seven more matches in a draw.
The contract of the head coach of the national team Alexander Petrakov ended on December 31, but the parties did not continue cooperation. The UAF is considering several options for further cooperation, but the most likely replacement for Petrakov is Al-Ain’s current mentor Sergei Rebrov.
Recall that Petrakov’s team took second place in Group 1 of the League of Nations and remained in Division B. Also last year, the blue-and-yellows did not make it to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to the results of the recent draw, the Ukrainian national team will play in Group C against Italy, England, North Macedonia and Malta in the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament.
