Soccer club chelsea on the official website confirmed the conclusion of a definitive agreement on the sale of the club to a consortium of American businessman Todd Bowley.
The deal will close on May 30.
Chelsea confirmed on May 7 that they had agreed terms for the sale of the team to the Bowley Consortium. The deal to buy the Blues’ stake is for £2.5bn, with a further £1.75bn set aside by the new owners for further investment in club interests. Members of the consortium acquiring the club are Todd Bowley, Hansjörg Wyss and Mark Walter, affiliates of Clearlake Capital Group.
The English club was bought by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich in 2003. In March, he was dismissed from his role due to his inclusion on the British sanctions list.
At the end of the season, Chelsea finished 3rd in the Premier League table with 74 points.
