Polish referee Szymon Marciniak named the best referee of 2022 according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS ).
Pole scored 150 points in the vote. The second was the Italian Daniele Orsato (65), on the third row – the Frenchman Clément Turpin (40).
Marciniak in December worked in the last match of the World Cup in Qatar, in which Argentina beat France (3:3, 4:2 – in pen.).
Earlier, the IFFHS recognized Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina national team striker Lionel Messi as the best player of 2022, and Carlo Ancelotti, who manages Real Madrid, as the club’s best manager.
