“Tennis Plays for Peace” in support of the Ukrainian people
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk commented on the charity tennis evening in support of Ukraine Tennis Plays for Peace.
“If we talk about this event in general, then of course it is very pleasant that the whole world supports Ukraine, that such large-scale events are organized. It is very nice to be a part of this and make some contribution to the future victory of Ukraine.”
“I know how people are suffering now, without light, without heat, and this is psychologically incredible pressure that the Russians are exerting with the dirty war that they are waging. Therefore, I support people as much as I can and it was nice that there was such a great opportunity to raise money for Ukrainians.”
The match was played by Spaniard Rafael Nadal, Australian Alex de Minor, Briton Andy Murray, US representatives Coco Gauff and Francis Tiafoe, Maria Sakkari from Greece, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and German Alexander Zverev, as well as Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexei Krutykh. Also, two 98-year-old record holders entered the court – Ukrainian Leonid Stanislavsky and Australian Henry Young.
All funds raised will be donated to support Ukraine through the Australian branch of UNICEF and the Global Giving platform.
Russia’s war against Ukraine continues for the 324th day.
