Morocco will not participate in the 2023 African Nations Championship due to flight problems

morocco national team will miss the next African Nations Football Championship. This was reported by the press service of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The tournament will take place in Algiers from January 13 to February 4. The reason for the non-participation of the Moroccan team is the absence of authorization for the flight of Royal Air Maroc (the official carrier of the national team) from Rabat to Algerian Constantine.

The federation noted that the football team is preparing for the tournament, including a friendly match with Ethiopia. However, a day before the start of the competition, the Moroccan side did not receive permission to fly the plane.

In the African Nations Championship, only teams composed entirely of players from the national championships are eligible to play. Legionnaires are not allowed to participate in matches.

At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Moroccan team reached the semi-finals, eventually finishing fourth. Moroccans have won the previous two African Nations Championships.
