Feyenoord said goodbye to several players after the end of the season, including an owner “Spartacus” Midfielder Gus Thiel according to the official Rotterdam team website.
Head coach Arne Slot is ready to part ways with Thiel, Cyril Dessers, Rhys Nelson and Valentin Cojocaru.
Meanwhile, the future is yet to be determined for Dessers, Thiel and Nelson on loan. The players received commemorative awards, although the option of them staying in Rotterdam next season still seems like a possibility.
This does not apply to Philip Sandler. The club have informed the defender that he won’t use the extension option provided in his contract.
During the finished season, Thiel, whose contract with Spartak runs until June 30, 2024, played 49 games for Feyenoord, scored 21 goals and made 5 assists.
Feyenoord reached the Conference League final, where they lost to Roma (0-1). In the national championship, the team from Rotterdam became the third.
