The new coach of the Citizens is pleased with the composition of the team
New head coach Alexandria Ruslan Rotan spoke about the preparation of the team for the second part of the season, as well as the work of the club in the transfer market.
“To say that we are now in active search, it would not be true. We have players at our disposal, the same forwards, we will give them a chance to prove themselves. Camps, trainings, sparring ahead. Let them prove themselves, show their best qualities on the field. We will see and then we will make decisions. We have our own vision of the game with the coaching staff. Through training and sparring, we will see if this or that player fits our game model. The only way. But today, I see that this is an already formed team, I see potential in it and I hope that we will all go towards our goals together,” Rotan said.
“Trainings of the first part of the camp will be aimed at improving physical fitness, as well as technical and tactical actions. There will be a lot of tactics, because we need to familiarize the players with our requirements. They won’t match the previous approaches in everything, so it will take time. In addition, every four days we have sparring scheduled. Such minicycles will come out.
“We spoke with the president of the club. Both coaches and players are well aware of the task. She hasn’t changed. But personally, I am now interested not only in the task for this season, but also in the future, which will be further. The main goal of the coaching staff is to improve the game of the players, and this is a daily work, because only by our game we can achieve the necessary results in a particular match. Each of us understands the degree of responsibility, so we will work, work hard.”
In the winter transfer window, Alexandria signed goalkeeper Nikita Shevchenko and loaned Dynamo midfielder Nikolai Mikhailenko. The Citizens also stopped cooperation with goalkeeper Oleg Bilyk.
In December, Rotan officially became the head coach of Alexandria. He replaced Yuri Guru, who has been in charge of the team since May 2021 and was fired at the end of the first part of the season.
Oleksandria went into the winter break in fifth place in the UPL standings. The Rotan team will play the first match in the spring against Dnepr-1.
