The head of the chemical giant INEOS owns Nice and Lausanne football teams, a cycling team and a stake in Mercedes in Formula 1
British billionaire Jim Ratcliff formally submitted a bid Manchester United.
Inclusion in the negotiation process was confirmed by the press secretary of the head of INEOS. The amount for which the billionaire intends to buy Manchester United has not been disclosed.
Ratcliffe is the founder and head of one of the world’s largest chemical groups, INEOS. The company actively invests in projects in various sports. Ratcliffe owns the football clubs Nice and Lausanne, as well as the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team. The company also owns a stake in the Formula 1 Mercedes team.
Earlier, the board of directors of Manchester United announced the sale of the club in whole or in part through large external investments. United’s owners, the Glazers, are looking to finalize the deal in the first quarter of 2023. Estimated sale amount is 6-7 billion pounds.
Manchester United is fourth in the Premier League. In the next round, the team of Eric Ten Hag will play with Crystal Palace on January 18th.
