Poland national team close to appointing Santos as head coach

The contract will run until 2026

Polish Football Association and ex-coach of the Portuguese national team Fernando Santos close to signing a contract. The agreement with the 68-year-old specialist will run until June 2026.

In addition to Santos, ex-coach of the Swiss national team Vladimir Petkovich and Paulo Bento, who worked with South Korea, also apply for the post of head coach of the Polish national team. Also, the white-reds were associated with Andriy Shevchenko and with the English coach Steven Gerrard.

Santos left the Portuguese national team in December. He has led the national team since September 2014. Under his leadership, Portugal won the 2016 European Championship and also became the winner of the Nations League in 2019.

The name of the new head coach of the Polish national team will be announced on Tuesday, January 24. The White-Reds have been without a mentor since December after the dismissal of Cheslav Mikhnevich.
