UEFA calls for independent report on unrest in Champions League final

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on its official website that it had commissioned an independent report on the events of the Champions League final between “real Madrid ” and “liverpool “.

The match took place on 28 May and started 36 minutes late due to queues outside the Stade de France in Saint-Denis (France) and organizational problems. Mass riots broke out, following which police used tear gas against supporters.

The report will be produced independently under the direction of Tiago Rodrigues, who is a Member of the Portuguese Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Environment and Energy Committee, and served as Portugal’s Minister of Education from 2015 to 2022. .

“To ensure its independent status in this process, Rodrigues has agreed to perform this task free of charge.

Evidence will be collected from all parties involved and the findings of the independent report will be made public once it is completed, UEFA will then consider next steps,” UEFA said in a statement.

The Champions League final “Real” – “Liverpool” ended with the victory of the Madrid club with the score of 1:0.

Initially, the decisive match was to take place in St. Petersburg, but UEFA deprived Russia of the right to host the final due to events in Ukraine.
