Former Leipzig coach Tedesco could take charge of the Belgian national team

The final decision will be made next week.

Team coach Belgium can be Domenico Tedesco.

The 37-year-old coach is ready to work with the national team. The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) plans to announce a final decision next week.

The coach’s last job was in Leipzig, which Tedesco left in September last year after losing to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League group stage. Tedesco also worked for Schalke and Spartak Moscow.

At the 2022 World Cup, Belgium did not qualify for the playoffs, finishing third in Quartet F. Soon, Spanish specialist Roberto Martinez announced his resignation as head coach. The Spaniard has led the Belgian national team since 2016. Under his leadership, the team took third place at the 2018 World Cup.

In addition to Tedesco, the Royal Belgian Football Association is considering the option of inviting the Italian coach Andrea Pirlo, who currently heads the Turkish Karagumruk.

Belgium will play in Group F with Austria, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Estonia in the Euro 2024 qualifier.
