Surprise win for league underdog
HC Kyiv in a regular match Ukrainian ice hockey championship won Legion – 4:3.
The hosts managed to put up only 13 outfield players for the match, but the personnel shortage did not prevent the championship outsider from giving a real fight to the fourth team of the championship. The victory for the people of Kiev was brought by Kirill Bondarenko’s puck in overtime.
HC Kyiv interrupted a losing streak of seven defeats in the championship. Kalush suffered a second fiasco in a row, but remained in fourth position in the standings.
Two more games will take place in the Ukrainian championship today. At 15:00 Sokol will start the match with the Dnieper, and the game day will end with the confrontation between Kremenchuk and Kharkiv Berserkers (18:00).
