Former La Liga footballer becomes king of one of the biggest archipelagos in the world

Former Espanyol, Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid player Jordi Amat became king of the Indonesian island of Siau, one of the largest archipelagos in the world.

– When I was little, my grandmother used to tell me that I was a prince, but I thought they were grandmother’s tales and nothing more. It won’t change much in my life, but honestly, I can’t believe it.

This is not the level at which we consider the word prince, and it is not comparable to the kings of Spain. But now I want to work for the good of the people and bring about positive economic changes, because there is something to do on the island,” Amat said as quoted by TV3.

Amat played for the Spanish national team at youth level. In 2022, he made his debut for the Indonesian national team, for which he played four matches.
