Kreichikova and Sinyakova win doubles at the Australian Open for the second year in a row

The Czechs defended the title in the final with a couple from Japan

Czech tennis players Barbora Kreychikova and Katerina Sinyakova steel winners in doubles at the Australian Open-2023.

In the final, the reigning champions defeated the Japanese Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara in two sets. Already in the first game of the first installment, the Czechs took the opponents’ serve and, thanks to this advantage, brought the matter to victory. The champions won the second set more confidently, having made three breaks.

Kreychikova and Sinyakova played their eighth joint Grand Slam final and won their seventh trophy. For the Czechs, this was the third decisive match in a row in Melbourne. In general, Barbora and Katerina recorded their 14th joint title.

Recall that in the semi-finals Kreychikova and Sinyakova defeated Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who played in Melbourne in a pair with Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
