Chelsea resume talks with Benfica over Enzo Fernandez transfer

The President of Lisbon, Rui Costa, does not intend to agree yet

Chelsea resumed direct negotiations with Benfica on the transfer of a midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues intend to get the player at any cost, the Londoners are ready to pay the Argentine’s 120 million euro clause. Benfica president Rui Costa has yet to agree, but Chelsea are pushing for an immediate deal.

Earlier it was reported that Chelsea are going to pay 127 million euros in three installments (about 40 million euros each) to buy the Argentina international as soon as possible. Negotiations between the clubs were considered to be at an advanced stage.

There was also information that Chelsea had agreed a personal contract with Fernandez. The agreement with the Argentine midfielder will be calculated until 2028. Enzo’s salary will be 10 million euros per year.

The 22-year-old world champion has made 29 appearances for the club in all competitions this season. The midfielder scored 4 goals in them and gave 7 assists.

Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League. In the next match, the team of Ukrainian Mikhail Mudrik will host Fulham on February 3.
