Figures of the most unexpected transition of winter in Ukrainian football
Dynamo defender Ilya Zabarny should become a Bournemouth player today. It is reported that Dynamo will be paid about 27 million euros for the pupil of the Cherry club, plus the white-blues will receive 20% of the amount of the player’s next transfer. If these figures are correct, then Zabarny’s transfer will be a record for defenders in Ukrainian football and the most expensive, if we focus solely on inflation-free numbers, for Dynamo Kyiv.
Record for defenders
So far, the transfer of Dmytro Chygrynskiy from Shakhtar to Barcelona in 2009 remains the most expensive transfer among defenders. Then the Catalan club paid a fantastic 25 million euros for the Pitmen’s player.

A year ago, Everton paid Dynamo 23.5 million euros for the transfer of Vitaliy Mykolenko. And in third place in the list of the most expensive transfers of defenders of UPL clubs is the purchase by Bayer from Dynamo Aleksandar Dragovic for 21 million euros.
The most expensive for Dynamo
Zabarny’s transition will also be a record for Dynamo (again, we are talking only about absolute numbers). So far, Andriy Yarmolenko, whose transfer in the 2017/2018 season cost Borussia 25 million euros, holds the palm for the high cost of a transfer to the Kiev club.
In third place is the already mentioned transfer of Vitaliy Mikolenko to Everton, in second place is the purchase of Andriy Shevchenko by Milan for 23.9 million euros.
Note that Zabarny will become only the fifth Dynamo player, whom the club managed to sell for more than 20 million euros. Shakhtar has eight such players.
Second in Ukraine
Speaking exclusively of Ukrainian players, the transfer of Zabarny to Bournemouth could become the second most expensive in history, second only to the recent transfer of Mikhail Mudrik from Shakhtar to Chelsea (70 million euros + bonuses).
