Isco transfer to Union canceled due to club exceeding limits

The parties had previously agreed on a move, but the Berlin club backed out of the deal.

Union Berlin refused to sign the Spanish midfielder Isco. Earlier it was reported that the midfielder agreed to a contract until 2024 with the option of extending for another season.

“We would like Isco to race for us, but we have our own limits. Now they are exceeded, despite our previous agreement. Therefore, the Isco transfer will not take place, ”said Union sports director Oliver Runert.

Isco left Sevilla in December and became a free agent. In addition to the Berliners, Wolverhampton were also interested in the player.

The former Real Madrid and Spain international has made 19 appearances for Sevilla in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Union Berlin is second in the Bundesliga, one point behind leaders Bayern Munich. Today Iron will play with Wolfsburg in the German Cup, and on February 4 they will host Mainz in the Bundesliga.
