UAF sent a request to UEFA to prevent clubs from the Russian Federation from holding test matches

rf suspended from matches under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA

UAF sent a formal request to UEFA and Turkish Football Federation on the ban on holding test matches during the winter break with the participation of clubs from the Russian Federation.

“In the pre-season preparatory period in a number of countries, clubs hold friendly matches, including representatives of Russia. According to information from open sources and the media, some of these fights have recently taken place in Turkey. Unfortunately, such matches can take place in the future.”

“Since the war continues, daily taking the lives of Ukrainians both on the battlefield and in their homes, hospitals, kindergartens, and the FIFA and UEFA regulations regarding this situation remain unchanged, we affirm that matches with Russian teams are unacceptable, and the participation of members of the European football family in their organization and directly in the game is a violation of UEFA directives and an undermining of ethical principles and humanistic values.”

In February last year, FIFA and UEFA did not allow all Russian teams and clubs to participate in competitions under the auspices of organizations. The reason is the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine.

Russia played its last match on November 14, 2021, losing to Croatia (0:1) in the 2022 World Cup qualifying group round match.

At the same time, UEFA plans to extend the suspension of Russian teams from international competitions. Russia also lost the right to host the UEFA Super Cup 2023. According to UAF President Andrei Pavelko, UEFA will begin to consider the return of Russian football to the European arena after the end of hostilities.

Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has been going on for 344 days.
