President Lecce Saverio Sticchi Damiani wanted to release a statement after the victory in Cremona, thanking the fans present from Northern Italy and dedicating the success to the people of Salento who were unable to follow the team due to the travel ban: “I would like to thank the many fans present who came to Cremona from Northern Italy and with throughout Europe. In particular, together with the whole team, I would like to dedicate the victory to the numerous fans who were not allowed to survive this joyful day. Serie A is the legacy of Salento and the people of Salento, and it is a pity that the fans, who have already prepared for this trip and also incurred the costs associated with it, were not able to support us. The victory is dedicated to them.”
