Earlier, the Ukrainian expressed a desire to fight the undefeated American Virgil Ortiz
Ukrainian welterweight boxer Taras Shelestyuk (19-0-1, 13 KOs) announced his return to the ring in the spring.
“Good news. I will be back in the ring at the end of April or beginning of May. Way to 20-0. I can’t be stopped!” the Ukrainian wrote.
Shelestyuk had his last fight in March last year. The WBA eliminator fight between the Ukrainian and Gabriel Maestre from Venezuela ended in a draw.
Shelestyuk planned to fight in December against IBO world champion Daniyar Yeleusinov (11-0, 6 KOs) from Kazakhstan. However, his opponent refused to fight.
Taras planned to have a second fight with Maestre. The Ukrainian also expressed a desire to fight the undefeated American Virgil Ortiz.
Shelestyuk is the bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympics, the world amateur champion in 2011 and the bronze medalist of the 2010 European Championship. He has been playing professionally since 2013.
