The wife of the former Barcelona and Brazilian national team defender Dani Alves Joana Sanz visited the footballer 17 days after he was jailed on suspicion of rape, according to Marca.
As reported, Sanz visited the Brians 2 center in Catalonia, where Alves, 39, is being held. After the visit, the woman refused to communicate with the press, limiting herself to the phrase “I will not leave him at the worst time in his life.”
Previous media reported that Sanz filed for divorce from the football player.
Alves was jailed in Spain for harassing and possibly raping a girl at a nightclub in Barcelona in late December. According to the media, if the player is convicted, he faces four to 12 years in prison.
The footballer played in Europe for Sevilla, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. He played 126 matches with the Brazilian national team and twice won the America’s Cup and the Confederations Cup.
Mexican club Pumas, for which the Brazilian recently played, has terminated his contract.
