At the head of the Turkish club Hatayspor denied media reports that the team’s midfielder christian atsu reported missing after the earthquake in Turkey, was found alive.
It was previously reported that Atsu was in the hospital with right leg injuries and difficulty breathing.
“Unfortunately Christian Atsu and our sporting director Taner Savut are still under the rubble. There was news about Christian Atsu from a Portuguese source, but we can’t confirm that. We cannot contact anyone. We cannot go to this area,” Hatayspor club press officer Mustafa Ozat was quoted as saying by DHA news agency.
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Turkey on Monday evening. The epicenter was the province of Kahramanmarash, aftershocks were then felt in different parts of the country. According to the latest data, the total death toll in Turkey has exceeded more than two thousand people. In the middle of the day, a new earthquake of magnitude 7.5 was recorded in the central part of Turkey.
On Sunday, ex-Chelsea and Newcastle player Atsu became the team’s winner in the match of the 23rd day of the Turkish Championship against Kasimpasi.
