The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has assembled a token squad for 2022 from players representing CONMEBOL confederation teams.
The list of the best football players of the year included seven players from the Argentina national team, which became the winners of the World Cup in Qatar.

Defenders: Nicolas Otamendi (Argentina, Benfica), Thiago Silva (Brazil, Chelsea), Christian Romero (Argentina, Tottenham);
Midfielders: Rodrigo de Paul (Argentina, Atlético Madrid), Neymar (Brazil, PSG), Casemiro (Brazil, Real Madrid/Manchester United), Enzo Fernandez (Argentina, Benfica/Chelsea);
Forwards: Vinicius Junior (Brazil, Real Madrid), Julián Alvarez (Argentina, River Plate/Manchester City), Lionel Messi (Argentina, PSG).
