Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay And Chile formally filed a joint application for the right to host world championship in 2030.
The initiative was supported by all 10 CONMEBOL countries. South American officials hope to host the tournament in Uruguay 100 years after the first World Cup was held in that country. According to the plan, the first match of the tournament will take place in Argentina, the final – in Uruguay.
Recall that in October Ukraine officially joined the joint application of Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup. According to the preliminary plan, our country will host one of the groups at the World Cup.
Saudi Arabia is also bidding to host the tournament. It was reported that forward Cristiano Ronaldo would promote the Kingdom’s bid for the 2030 World Cup, but the new club of the Portuguese Al-Nasr denied such information.
At the last World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Argentina won its third title. The 2026 World Cup will be held in three countries at once – the USA, Canada and Mexico.
