“Manchester City” may encounter serious difficulties in contesting possible sanctions against the club for financial violation.
On Monday, the Premier League issued a statement in which it filed charges against Manchester City over the publication of information on the club’s income and expenditure, as well as the head coach’s remuneration from September 2009 to 2018 The Premier League has referred the case of alleged breaches to an independent commission. The media say that if violations are found, the club risks both points being dropped and outright exclusion from the league.
According to the Times, Manchester City will not be able to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) due to Premier League rules. Sanctions can only be appealed before a judicial appeals chamber composed of three members.
In other words, this system will only allow the internal arbitration bodies of the contest itself.
