At the first general meeting of Juntos 2030 Corporation, the journalist with extensive experience in mega-events will play a key role in the joint bid for the meeting that will take place in seven years.
Securing the ratification of Michael Boys as executive secretary of the Juntos 2030 Corporation was one of the main missions of Sports Minister Alexandra Benado during her trip to Buenos Aires. which he finally achieved after receiving support from Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay , the rest of the World Cup app members for another seven years. The professional has worked for many years as a FIFA events coordinator, a fundamental experience when it comes to leading a bid of these characteristics.
“Michael Boys is a professional with recognized experience in coordinating sporting mega-events, none of the representatives hesitated to appoint him as executive secretary of the Juntos 2030 Corporation”, underlines the Chilean sports official. “The designation is important for our country, it is a recognition of the seriousness with which we carry out our work, but it is undoubtedly a plus for the candidature. He is a recognized professional in the world of mega-events and he will help us achieve the dream of bringing the Centenary World Cup back to its origin: South America,” he adds.
Among the most enthusiastic promoters of the arrival of the Boys is Sebastien Bauza former president of the Uruguayan Football Association and now his country’s national sports secretary, with extensive knowledge of the Chilean’s work.
Along with this, the meeting defined the structure of the company. The agreement envisages Uruguay at the head of the organization, Argentina at the vice-presidency, Chile at the treasury and Paraguay at the secretariat. Likewise, the respective federations will be integrated into the board of directors of the company. In this sense, the idea of the application is to take advantage of the characteristics of each of the participants, where the national representation will provide the scheme of work, reflected in the organization of Santiago 2023 as a mega-event, which would leave Chile in a position only comparable to Brazil in terms of experience.
The meeting at the Julio Humberto Grondona de Ezeiza property was the official start of the common candidacy and also brought together the presidents of the federations, the political authorities of each country, the president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, and the champions of the Argentine world. Franco Armani (Qatar 2022); Óscar Ruggeri, Jorge Burruchaga, Ricardo Giusti (Mexico 1986); and Ricardo Villa, Omar Larrosa and Alberto Tarantini (Argentina 1978).
The national proposal
“Every day that the bid for the 2030 World Cup advances is one step closer to building a new sports venue. Without a doubt, it must meet FIFA access standards for this type of event, which will mean having a hall for 60,000 people” commented Minister Benado to Jock, on the Chilean nomination proposal.
The announcement also comes with a goal: to ensure that Chile hosts at least one semi-final of the future event. “Without a doubt, as a country, we deserve to have decisive phase matches for what we want to be our World Cup. Today we have venues that could host group matches, round of 16 final and quarter-finals, but we definitely want the decisive matches of the World Cup to be played in Chile.” underlined the Secretary of State.
President of Argentina asks to add Bolivia
Just as the first general assembly of the Juntos 2030 Corporation, the body made up of Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay to solicit the candidacy for the World Cup in seven years, was being held, Trans-Andean President Alberto Fernández has turned all plans upside down with a message via his social networks.
“OUR #SelectionArgentina brought the World Cup to our continent and it would be a great joy if, 100 years later, the World Cup returned to where it all began: #South America ” , began by pointing to his Twitter account. Nothing new so far. However, his next message left no one indifferent.
“This candidacy comes from all over the continent. This is why I would like and I will propose that our brother country #Bolivia Be part of this dream.” published, which surprised everyone, including the representatives of the nations who were at the meeting, which was to precisely define the structure of the new society.
