Gvozdyk: Now I just want to support my country. But in the future my goal is to fight the best guys.

Ukrainian boxer resumes his career

Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Alexander Gvozdyk commented on his return to boxing.

“There were some circumstances. In fact, the main reason is the situation in my country, because I spent a lot of time there, and now there is a war, I kind of lost a lot. On the other hand, I just want to support my country by raising our flag in sports arenas.”

“Well, yes, there was also a desire to fight again. I wouldn’t say it was crazy that I couldn’t sleep at night. But it was. Especially when you get back in the ring and see the fights, when the other guys come out of the locker room, you want to experience that feeling again.”

“I don’t like to think far into the future. Let’s see how it goes. Definitely my goal is to fight the best guys.”

February 11 in the city of Pomona (California, USA) Carnation will hold his first fight after returning to boxing against the Argentinean Jorge Miranda.

In 2018, Gvozdyk became the world champion by defeating Adonis Stevenson. After that, Alexander had one successful title defense. The Ukrainian fought his last fight in the fall of 2019, losing to Artur Beterbiev. In 2020, Alexander ended his career, but last year he decided to return.
