Montini: ‘Juve Stabia wanted me, I preferred Odache to Cerignola’

Caught on the edge of a rose in Monopoli Matthias Montini accepted a pass from Odache Cerignola in the final hours of the transfer market. Former Roma explained the reason from the pillars Corriere dello Sport: “Director Di Toro was already looking for me at the beginning of the transfer market, but some things had to get stuck, which then happened. We spoke again on the last day and the deal was closed in a short amount of time. Juve Stabia was also about me, but I chose Cerignola because the team made a great impression on me, and I knew that here I would be at the center of the project. In Monopoli coach Pancaro made some choices after a few negative performances by the team and I left the owners. I hoped that my green and white marriage would last longer, but this did not happen. Montini was one of the talents of Roma Primavera who won the Scudetto in 2011, scoring three of Montini’s own goals in the final against Varese: “You also need intelligence, luck, and the ability to rely on the right people to make a certain type of career. A combination of things I didn’t have. To get into Serie A you need the right mentality, if I had the brain that I have now I could get there because I didn’t lack quality.”
